Create your first Client

A Client is the starting point for organizing your work in TCB. Learn what a Client is, how to create one, and how it connects to Projects and Documents.

What is a Client?

A Client in TCB represents one of your customers or companies you work with. Clients are the top level of your work structure — Projects are linked to Clients, and Documents are linked to both. A Client can exist on its own without any Projects or Documents attached.

How to create a Client

You can create a Client from three different places:

  • Clients listing — click New Client from the Clients screen in the sidebar.

  • During project creation — when creating a new Project, you can add a new Client on the spot.

  • During document creation — when creating a new Document, you can create a new Client inline if one doesn't exist yet.

In all cases, you'll need to:

  1. Fill in the client's name and any relevant details (email, company, notes).

  2. Click Save.

What can I add to a Client?

  • Name and contact information

  • Company or brand name

  • Internal notes

  • Multiple projects

How Clients connect to the rest of TCB

  • A Client doesn't need a Project or Document to be created — it can stand alone.

  • A Project must be linked to a Client.

  • A Document must be linked to a Project — and because of that, to a Client as well.

Next step

Once you have a Client, you can create a Project under it or go straight to creating a Document — TCB will guide you through linking everything in the flow.
