What Base Services are
A Base Service represents a specific type of work you offer, like Brand Identity, Social Media Management or UI/UX Design. Inside TCB, each one acts as a structured playbook for that service: it holds your pricing, your deliverables, your delivery milestones, your project tasks and the structure of the documents it produces.
When you create a project or a document, you pick a Base Service, and TCB uses everything inside it to build the content. You never fill in the same details twice.
Base Services used to be called Service Types. Same thing, clearer name: they are the services that make up your Base.
Where they come from
When you sign up and choose your craft, TCB loads a set of Base Services built from market benchmarking for that profession, already carrying realistic scope, pricing references, deliverables and tasks. It is a head start, not a final answer.

What a Base Service contains
Price and turnaround, your fee for that service and how long it takes to deliver
Deliverables, what the client actually receives, each one either included in the package or optional
Delivery milestones, the stages the work moves through
Tasks, the checklist that lands inside a project of this type, grouped under the milestones
Document structure, the content that populates your proposals, contracts and invoices
Included and optional deliverables
Every deliverable is one of two kinds, and the difference is what it does to the price:
Included, already part of the base package. The website, the 40 edited photos, the three concepts. It costs nothing extra because the base price already covers it.
Optional, an add-on you switch on per project. It adds its own price and its own days to the total.
This matters beyond bookkeeping. Included deliverables are what your client sees listed in the proposal, in the PDF and in the client portal, so a package stops being a single line with a number next to it and starts showing what it actually delivers.
Where your Base lives
Your services live in Base Setup, in the sidebar under Foundation, on the Base Services tab. The screen opens with an overview of your Base: how many services you offer, how many projects use them, and the value of your active pipeline.
Each card shows the essentials without opening it: the price range from base to fully loaded, deliverables, turnaround, tasks, and how many of your projects use that service. A toggle switches a service on or off, which removes it from the project and document flows without deleting anything.
Default, Refined, Your Base
Each service carries a badge that tells you where its numbers came from:
Default, still the benchmark we seeded when you picked your craft
Refined, priced by a Refine session
Your Base, a price you typed yourself
The distinction is deliberate. A service you edited by hand is never overwritten by a later Refine session.
How to edit a Base Service
Open Base Setup in the sidebar and go to the Base Services tab.
Click Customize on the service you want to edit.
The editor shows your base package (description, billing type, base price, duration), your deliverables with the Included or Optional selector on each line, and your milestones and tasks. A live preview on the right reflects every change as you make it.
Save.
Milestones and tasks can be reordered by dragging them or with the up and down arrows on each row, which also work on a phone and with a keyboard.
Can I create my own services?
Yes. If none of the defaults match something you offer, create it from scratch with your own scope, pricing, deliverables and tasks. Services you sell only once appear under One-time services, kept separate from the ones you sell regularly.
What happens if I never customize them?
TCB still works, but your documents and projects carry benchmark data instead of your own numbers. Customizing, or running Refine once, is what makes the platform yours.
