One account, many currencies
Freelance work crosses borders — a designer in London invoices a client in New York, a studio in Milan quotes a project in Zurich. TCB handles this natively: every project has its own currency, independent from your account's default.
Your default currency
Your working currency is set in Base Setup → Product Setup (the Currency selector, with flags). It's the currency your new projects start with, and the one your Base pricing is expressed in.
Setting a currency per project
When creating or editing a project, pick its currency from 40+ supported ISO currencies. Everything inside that project — proposals, contracts, invoices, and payments — is denominated in the project's currency.
One project, one currency: all documents in a project share its denomination, which keeps the paper trail consistent from proposal to final invoice.
When a project's currency locks
You can change a project's currency freely while everything is still in draft. Once the project issues a document or receives a payment, the currency locks. That's deliberate: an invoice a client already received should never silently change denomination.
Issued documents never change
Documents always render in their project's currency, frozen at creation. Changing your account currency later — or even the project list you work from — never rewrites a document you've already issued. What your client saw is what stays on record.
How totals work — no hidden conversion
TCB never converts currencies behind your back. When totals span projects in different currencies — on the dashboard, in Finances, in your project and client lists — you see clean per-currency subtotals, like €1,200 · $800, instead of a made-up combined number based on an exchange rate you didn't choose.
If you work in a single currency, nothing changes: your totals look exactly as before.
Is this the same as my billing currency?
No. Project currencies are about the money you charge your clients. Your TCB Plus subscription is billed separately in EUR or GBP based on your location — read What currency and VAT will I be charged? for that side.
